Enterprise management software compatibility
Toshiba recognizes the need to manage systems within the context
of the enterprise. By supporting and integrating a wide variety of
system management functions with enterprise management
applications, Toshiba has assured that the Tecra 8000 will work
well within a managed enterprise environment. Integrated DMI
support provides extensive system information to DMI-enabled
enterprise management applications. In addition, plug-ins enable
enterprise management applications such as Unicenter TNG,
Tivoli TME 10, and Openview NNM to see and understand DMI
system management data. With these plug-ins, detailed health
information about the Tecra 8000 can be received and understood
by these applications and appropriate action taken using LDCM’s
Administrator module.
SNMP mapping agent
With the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
mapping agent, the Tecra 8000’s detailed DMI-based information
can be translated to SNMP information which can be monitored
and manipulated by SNMP-enabled management applications. In
addition, SNMP traps can be sent when problems arise,
proactively notifying enterprise management applications of the
problem. Extensive testing and integration of the Tecra 8000
Series’ advanced system management features within the
enterprise management environment makes this system ideal for
use in large corporate environments.
SMS connection
With Toshiba’s SMS Connection, using Microsoft’s System
Management Server to manage and support the Tecra 8000 Series

and system configurations. By using Toshiba’s SMS Connection,
a wide variety of additional hardware-related information is added
