Attaching other components
If you plan to power your computer with AC power, you should
plug in your AC adapter before you turn it on.
Similarly, you should attach your external components and
devices to your Tecra 8000 Series computer before you turn it on.
For more information about each device, see “Using Your
Computer in the Office” on page 21.
Preparing the battery
Before you can use the battery to power the computer, you must
charge it. Just plug the computer into a live power outlet using the
AC adapter and power cable. The AC adapter connects to the DC
IN socket on the back of the computer.
To charge the battery completely, leave the computer plugged in
for two and a half hours with the computer’s power turned off or
three and a quarter hours with the power on.
TECHNICAL NOTE: Once the battery is charged for the first
time, don’t leave the computer plugged in and turned off for
more than a few hours at a time.
Turning on the computer
The computer is now ready for you to turn it on and begin using it.
To turn on the computer:
1
Make sure your AC adapter and all the external devices (if
applicable) are properly connected and ready.
2
If there is a diskette drive connected, check that it is empty.
