Cleaning the Instrument

RFM 150 Instruction Manual
Interior Cleaning
This instrument is equipped with special seals and gaskets which
eliminate the need for routine interior cleaning. However, if dirt has
entered the instrument, it should be removed. Dirt acts as a thermal
insulator, preventing effective heat dissipation, and can also provide
high-resistance electrical leakage paths between conductors or
components in a humid environment.
WARNING.
Opening the RFM 150 case while an RF signal is applied
can expose the operator to hazardous voltages. Always disconnect
the RF INPUT connector from the RFM 150 before opening the case.
CAUTION.
Do not allow water to get inside any enclosed assembly or
component. Do not clean any plastic materials with benzene, toluene,
xylene, acetone, or similar compounds, because they may damage the
plastic.
After interior cleaning, allow the instrument to dry thoroughly before
applying power.
Cleaning of rosin residue is not recommended for this product. Most
cleaning solvents tend to reactivate the rosin and spread it under
components where it may cause corrosion under humid conditions.
The rosin residue, if left alone, does not exhibit these corrosive
properties.
