2. If the jitter test requires the CTS850 to generate jitter, use the
TRANSMIT menu to set the transmit parameters that are
appropriate for the signal you will be generating. Refer to Setting
SDH Transmit Parameters for information about this topic.
3. To set the type of jitter test:

Select Output Jitter to measure the jitter at the output of a
network element. (The output jitter test does not use the
CTS850 jitter-generation capability.)

Select Jitter Tolerance to measure the tolerance of the input
of a network element to applied jitter (this test uses bit error
measurement).

Select Jitter Transfer to measure the transfer of jitter from
the input to the output of a network element.

Select Pointer Jitter to measure jitter in PDH signals due to
pointer movement in the SDH signal (this test does not use
jitter generation).
The remaining parameters are dependent on the type of jitter test
you select.
