6.3 Basket Care and Inspection
The following care and inspection advice applies to all basket types compatible with
the equipment, although some details may vary in particular instances.
Baskets require considerate care and regular inspection. Baskets treated harshly
are susceptible to damage. Issues with wash cycle errors can often be traced back
to baskets with cracked manifolds or damaged or missing flush ports.
Baskets should always be inspected before any loading of instruments. Defects and
damage to basket manifolds or flush ports can result in poor cleaning performance
and alarm conditions resulting in a wash cycle abort.
6.3.1 Basket Frame — Care
Baskets are designed to fit exactly within the carrier. Avoid stacking baskets or
placing any weight on them that may distort the basket or twist the frame out of
shape.
When docking baskets into the carrier, each basket should slide into place smoothly
without the need for force. Avoid banging baskets into the carrier or trying to ram
them into position by force. Any basket that does not dock into the carrier normally
should not be used.
