Carrier
A frame attached to the lid that holds the instrument baskets and moves them into, and out of, the
tank.
Caution
Advice alerting personnel to a risk that can potentially damage equipment.
Cavitation
The foundation of ultrasonic cleaning occurs when ultrasonic energy is introduced into a cleaning
solution. This energy causes alternating low and high pressure phases. During low pressure
phases, minute bubbles (or vacuum cavities) are formed: during high pressure phases, bubbles
implode violently.
Chamber
Phrase that appears on the display which refers to, and is equal in meaning to 'tank'. See Tank
Chemical
A water-soluble substance used to assist cleaning during a wash cycle. Often refers to the use of
"detergent".
Chemical pickup
Hose assembly that connects to chemical port at the back of the sonic irrigator and is fed into a
chemical bottle. The hose assembly provides chemical (detergent) to the sonic irrigator as
demanded by wash settings.
Chemical pump
Internal pump used to deliver detergent into the tank.
Concentration
A measure of the amount of dissolved substance contained per unit of volume.
Cycle
A sequence of actions that equipment performs in order to clean instruments. Also referred to as a
"program".
