Torque control

• This drill driver is fitted with torque control, which limits the torque output of the drill, enabling

screws to be driven without the risk of damage

• There are 18 torque settings and two drill settings. The lower the number, the lower the torque
• To set the torque clutch, select the first gear and rotate the Mode Selector (4) so the drive symbol

is aligned with the indicator on the tool body

•  Rotate the Torque Selector (3) until the required setting is aligned with the drive symbol
• Check the torque setting is correct by practising first on a piece of scrap material

WARNING:

The drill can be fitted with a drive adaptor for use with driving nuts and bolts. DO

NOT attempt to use this tool in the drill position when doing so. Use the 18 torque settings and the

first gear to allow the torque clutch to protect the tool from excessive load. The use of a spanner to

loosen or tighten a nut/bolt is recommended. This allows the tool to speed up the operation without

risk of damage when high torque is required at the beginning or end of the operation.

Switching ON & OFF

 WARNING:

Always wear adequate personal protection equipment when setting up and

operating this tool.
1.  To start the drill, squeeze the ON/OFF Trigger Switch (15)

Note:

If the ON/OFF Trigger Switch cannot be pressed down, check that the Forward/Reverse Switch

(8) is not set to its middle position, which locks the device (see ‘Direction control’).
2.  The speed of the drill is controlled by the movement of the trigger: the further the trigger is

pressed down, the faster the drill will run
3.  Release the ON/OFF Trigger Switch to stop the tool

Note:

A built-in LED Work Light (14) will operate each time the ON/OFF Trigger Switch is pressed to

illuminate the work area.

Note:

The On-Tool Battery Indicator (7) will operate each time the ON/OFF Trigger Switch is pressed.

The number of bars that illuminate when the button is pressed indicate the charge level; 1 bar

indicating a low charge, 3 bars indicating a full charge.

Screwdriver use

Note:

Use a universal bit holder (not supplied) when working with screwdriver bits. Only mount

screwdriver bits directly into the chuck if it is essential to access a screw head. Use a bit holder at

all other times.
• When driving screws NEVER use the tool in drill mode. This will protect the motor by causing the

clutch to slip rather than the motor to stall when the screw is fully inserted in the workpiece and

cannot rotate any further

• Always adjust the drill to the appropriate torque setting (see ‘Drill mode selection’ & ‘Torque

control’)

Note:

If in doubt about which torque setting best suits the application, start with a low setting and

increase, should more torque be required (e.g. if the screw is not being driven far enough into the

workpiece).

Drilling wood

 WARNING:

The dust produced from working with some materials can be toxic. Beech, oak,

mahogany and teak natural woods, man-made composite woods and some surface treatments,

including paint with lead, are toxic. Lead-based paint is common in buildings built before 1960.

Always wear suitable respiratory protection; for example, a respirator face mask. Use a dust

extraction system or regularly vacuum the work area to prevent the build-up of dust. In addition,

vacuum the work area after the work has been completed. Most dust is a fire hazard. Overhead work

surfaces have an increased safety risk for dust.

• Select drill mode   with the Mode Selector (4) and the required gear (typically 2nd gear)
• Ensure the drill bits are suitable for wood and are within the maximum capacity of this power

tool (see ‘Specification’)

Drilling metal

• Select drill mode   with the Mode Selector (4) and the required gear (typically 2nd gear)
• Ensure the drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal being drilled and are within the

maximum capacity of the tool (see ‘Specification’)

• To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer and centre punch

 WARNING:

The drill bit and the workpiece will become very hot when drilling metal. DO NOT

touch the bit and never allow it to come into contact with combustible materials when hot.
• Always use a suitable lubricant or cutting fluid and drill at appropriate speeds.
• Only apply moderate pressure to the drill bit, ensuring efficient cutting and prolonged drill

bit life

• Use a countersink bit to remove sharp burrs from the hole, preventing cuts and other kinds

of injury

Drilling masonry

•  Select hammer drill mode

with the Mode Selector (4) and the required gear (typically

2nd gear)

•  Always use a masonry drill bit, preferably a TCT masonry bit, when drilling into walls, stone or

concrete

DO NOT apply too much pressure to the back of the tool. If debris blocks the drill hole, run the drill

slowly and remove the bit from the hole. Repeat until the hole is clear of debris and continue

Accessories

•  A full range of accessories including drill bits, screwdriver bits and wire brushes, is available from

your Silverline stockist

•  Spare parts can be obtained from toolsparesonline.com

Maintenance

WARNING:

Always disconnect the tool from the power supply, before cleaning or carrying

out maintenance.

General inspection

•  Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
•  Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should be

carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords

used with this tool

Lubrication

•  Lubricate all moving parts with a suitable lubricant spray, at regular intervals

Cleaning

WARNING:

ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when cleaning

this tool.
•  Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and

shorten the device’s service life

•  Clean the body of your tool with a soft brush, or dry cloth
•  Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild detergent

on a damp cloth is recommended

•  Water must never come into contact with the tool
•  Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
•  If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes (where

applicable)

Brushes

•  Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
•  Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
•  If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an authorised service centre
