Unpacking Your Tool

• Carefully unpack and inspect your product. Fully familiarise yourself with all its features and

functions

• Ensure all parts of the product are present and in good condition
• If any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this

product

Before Use

Removing the Battery

• To remove the Battery (12), press the Battery Release (13) and slide the Battery out of the Battery

Mount (10) (Fig. I (a-b))

Installing a charged Battery

1.  To fit a charged Battery (12), slide it onto the Battery Mount (10) (Fig. I (c))

Note:

The Battery will fit only in one direction, which is determined by its shape and the design

of the Battery Mount. However, if the Battery does not slide into the Battery Mount easily, do not

force it. Instead, pull the Battery out of the Battery Mount again, check for correct position, and try

again gently.
2.  Push the Battery into the Battery Mount until it locks into place securely

Setting up the Charger

1.  If fitted, remove the Battery (12) from the Battery Mount (10) (Fig. II (b))
2.  Connect the Battery Charger (16) to the mains power supply
3.  The Green LED (18) on the Battery Charger will illuminate to indicate that the Charger is powered.

 WARNING:

Only use this Charger to charge the supplied Battery or identical Silverline

batteries.

WARNING:

The Battery Charger is designed for indoor use only and must not be exposed to

moisture and rain.

Charging the Battery

WARNING:

Failure to follow the correct procedure when charging the Battery (12) will result

in permanent damage.

Note:

Normal charging time is 1 hour for a recently fully-discharged battery, but if the Battery has

been left in a discharged state for some time, it may take extended time to charge.

1.  Slide a discharged or partially discharged Battery into the Battery Charger (16) (Fig. II (a))

Note:

Make sure the Battery (12) and Battery Charger are lined up correctly. If the Battery does not

slide onto the Battery Charger easily, don’t force it. Instead, remove the Battery, then check that

the top of the Battery and the Battery Charger slot are clean and undamaged and that the Charger

Terminals (17) are not bent.
2.  Once charging commences, only the Red LED (19) will illuminate

Note:

If the Red LED is not constantly illuminated after an uncharged Battery is inserted into the

Charger, the Battery or Charger may be faulty. Recheck the Battery is fully inserted in the Battery. If

the fault persists do not use and contact your authorised Silverline distributer.
3.  When the Battery is fully-charged only the Green LED (18) will be illuminated

Battery Charge Level

The Battery has a built-in Battery Charge Indicator (11). Pressing on the button to the right will

indicate the charge level. The number of bars that illuminate when the button is pressed indicate

the charge level; 1 bar indicating a low charge, 3 bars indicating a full charge.

IMPORTANT:

When a low charge level is indicated be aware the tool may stop operating while in

use. This may be dangerous. It is recommended to always ensure the Battery has a good charge

level.

Notes about battery charging

IMPORTANT: Batteries are an expendable supply whose capacity shortens over time. Always adhere

to the correct handling and charging instructions in the manual. If the battery does not hold charge

or working time is shortened, purchase a genuine Silverline replacement.
•  The Battery (12) should be charged at ambient temperatures between 10°C and 40°C (ideally

around 20°C)

•  After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use
•  Ensure the charger is disconnected from the mains supply after use, and is stored correctly
•  Do not leave batteries on charge for extended periods and never store batteries on charge
•  The Battery Charger (16) monitors battery temperature and voltage while charging. Remove

the Battery once charging has been completed to maximise charge cycles of the battery and

not waste power

•  Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in the battery can fail, and the battery

could short. The charger will not charge faulty batteries. Use another battery, if possible, to

check correct functionality of the charger and purchase a replacement battery if a faulty battery

is indicated

•  Do not store Lithium-ion battery packs in a discharged state long term. This can damage the

Lithium-ion cells. For long-term storage, store batteries in a high charge state disconnected

from the power tool

•  The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100 charge cycles, the battery’s operation

time and the performance will slightly reduce. This decline will continue until the battery has

minimal capacity after 500 charge cycles. This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack

Fitting drill bits & accessories

WARNING:

Always remove the Battery from the drill before attaching, adjusting or removing

accessories.

WARNING:

Do not attempt to tighten drill bits (or any other accessory) by gripping the Chuck

Collar (2) and switching the tool ON. This can lead to personal injury and can cause damage to

the chuck.

WARNING:

Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the no-load speed of

the power tool or selected gear.
1.  Open the Chuck Jaws (1) by rotating the Chuck Collar anti-clockwise (with the Chuck facing

the operator)

2.  Place the drill bit or accessory centrally into the Chuck Jaws
3.  Tighten the Chuck Jaws by rotating the Chuck Collar clockwise
4.  When the drill bit or accessory is securely fastened, carefully run the tool to test that it is running

centrally, smoothly and evenly. If the bit is 'wobbling' or not running centrally, release the Chuck

Jaws, check the accessory for damage, correct its position, retighten and test again

Operation

Direction control

WARNING:

NEVER change the direction of rotation while the tool is running.

•  The direction of rotation can be set using the Forward/Reverse Switch (8)
•  For anti-clockwise rotation, holding the drill in a normal operating position, push the switch

to the right

•  For clockwise rotation, push the switch to the left

Note:

When the Forward/Reverse Switch is in the central position, the drill is locked and cannot

be switched ON. Use this setting as a safety feature to prevent the drill from being switched ON

accidentally.

Speed control

•  This drill features a 2-speed gearbox:
-  1st gear range:   0 – 400/min
-  2nd gear range:            0 – 1350/min
•  Use the Gear Selector (5) to set the gear: back for first gear, forward for second gear

Note:

The first gear would be used normally for driving screws, for example, and offers higher

torque and superior control at low rpm. The second gear would normally be used exclusively for

drilling.

Drill mode selection

•  For normal drilling, select the correct gear which is normally the high speed 2nd gear, then rotate

the Mode Selector (4) so the drill symbol   is aligned with the indicator on the tool body

•  For masonry drilling, select the correct gear which is normally the high speed 2nd gear, then

rotate the Mode Selector so the hammer symbol  is aligned with the indicator on the tool body
