Maximum power capacity of the port.
15.4 to 22. 5 Watt
Iport_Capacity
Current level at maximum port power capacity.
270 to 399 mA

Parameters
Port_Class
Effective port classification level.
0 to 3
Optional Input
Controls

Description
This test evaluates the maximum continuous power output of the port Default test condition is Class
0 power-up with 2.5 mA classification current. With the Class 0 default, port power capacity should
be 15.4 watts or greater. From PowerShell, user may specify EITHER the classification mode (PD
Classification) OR the classification current level during classification preceding power-up. The test
may be used to assess both classification range and PSE port power management behavior in
response to various classifications. User may request to have the test remove power upon
completion of the test.

Max_Ilim
Maximum short circuit current sampled over 75
msec short circuit load
400 to 450 mA
Min_Ilim
Minimum short circuit current sampled during 50
msec short circuit load
400 to 450 mA
Init_Ilim
Initial peak short circuit current during first 1 msec
of short circuit load
400 to 512 mA
Tlim
Time from onset of short circuit overload until PSE
fully removes port power.
50 to 75 msec
Output_Voltage_V
Average DC voltage over the duration of the inrush
load during power-up.
44 to 57 Volts
Tested
Parameters
25msec_Short_Vport
Port voltage following at 25 msec short circuit
overload
44 to 57 Volts
Optional Input

Shutdown
Description
The test uses a series of event triggered transients and traces to analyze both load current and
voltage responses associated with a current-limiting overload induced during power-up. The test
automatically adapts by adjusting load transient sequences to any foldback behaviors observed
during the first trace analysis. Maximum and Minimum load currents are assessed from traces while
the PSE is load-limiting. Inrush shutdown timing and PSE response to a (short) 25 msec inrush
overload are also recovered from trace captures.
Trace Analysis
Three traces are utilized as follows:
Analyze Ilinrush_Init, Iinrush(Min), and any foldback behaviors
Analyze Inrush(Max) and Tinrush (Tlim)
Analyze Vport and response to 25 msec current limiting overload
Approximate Test
Time
23
seconds per port
