List of PSE ports that never power up at start of test.
Test Application

Assess independence and autonomy of all PSE ports in removing
power given PD disconnect.
•
Verify system (firmware) handling of port shut-downs and any system
logging functions associated with recording power events.
6.10. PSE Multi-Port Tests – PSE Port Overload Shut-Down Tests
The PSE Multi-Port Test Suite provides three tests that characterize PSE behaviors associated with PSE port overloads
and their associated power removal operations.
mp_overld_time
is the overload shut-down analogue to
mp_discx_time
,
mp_overld_cycle
is the overload shut-down analogue to
mp_discx_cycle
, and
mp_overld_idp
is the
overload shut-down analogue to
mp_discx_idp
described above.
mp_overld_time
and
mp_overld_cycle
both involve
bulk PSE port overloads with full user control of overload magnitudes and PD emulation characteristics.

This test is not available with the PSA-PL.

Overload Shutdown Current
Overload shut-down load current threshold to use – equivalent to

Total Power Down Time
Time required for all PSE ports to remove power given simultaneous PD
disconnects.
Average Power Down Time
Average time per port for power removal following port overload.
Shortest Power Down Time
Shortest time measured for power removal following port overload.
Powered Port List
List of any PSE ports that never powered down.
Last Port Down
PSE port that was the slowest to power down.
First Port Down
PSE port that was the fastest to power down.
Inactive Port List
List of PSE ports that never power up at start of test.
Test Application
•
Evaluate bulk PSE overload shutdown timing and PD classification
based power management behaviors.
•
Evaluate timeliness of system port management functions that may
intervene in PSE port shutdown behaviors.
•
Evaluate compliance to IEEE 802.3af
