Fault – Cause – Remedy
Displaying technical alarm causes
Carina saves technical alarms in the log book as
information for servicing purposes. See "Displaying
the log book" on page 91.
Rescue Ventilation
In the event of a technical fault, e.g. pressure sen-
sor error, Carina switches to rescue ventilation. The
dynamically controlled blower maintains controlled
ventilation at the necessary ventilation pressure
even if sensors have failed.
Rescue ventilation is pressure-controlled ventila-
tion (PC-BIPAP) at reduced quality. The trigger
function is deactivated. There is no longer any vol-
ume guarantee. Functions are no longer monitored.
Standby activated The device is ready for opera-
tion. Ventilation is in standby
mode. To start ventilation: press the
»
Start/Standby « button.
Technical alarm
(in log book
»Technical Alarm !!«) !! The device has a technical
problem. This alarm does not
affect to the breathing function,
e.g. hard key defect. Use a replacement device.
Call DrägerService.
Technical alarm

If the device cannot be turned
off, remove the O

hose from
the central supply and then
turn off the device.

WARNING
In the event of rescue ventilation the Carina
ceases to ventilate the patient adequately,
ventilation must be continued without delay
by using an independent ventilation device – if
necessary with PEEP and/or an increased
inspiratory O
2
concentration (e.g. with the
Resutator MR 100).
