8.5 Maintenance
8.5.1 Maintenance of gas detector is performing periodic check of zero and sensitivity
setting, as well as setting of zero and sensitivity (if required) and verification. Example for
operations performed in this section is described for gas detectors with SENS interface, using
commands of SENS line. For gas detectors without SENS interface, operation is similar, using
corresponding command of Modbus and HART protocols and required equipment.
8.5.2 Safety measures
Requirements of 8.1 shall be fulfilled during maintenance.
8.5.3 General instructions and maintenance procedure
8.5.3.1 Maintenance is performed in order to provide operational capability and keep
operational and technical specifications of gas detector during its entire service life.
Maintenance of gas detector in scope of operation specified below must be performed at
least once in 3 (three) months with mandatory record about completion in gas detector
configuration data sheet.
List of required equipment for maintenance is specified in Table J.1 of Annex J
.
Following operations are performed during maintenance:
- inspection and check-up of exterior. Absence of mechanical damage, marking integrity,
strength of gas detector components fastening, absence of gas detector surfaces
contamination is checked;
Note - In case of contamination presence, cleaning is performed using dry clean cotton
rags.
- check of gas detector installation. Strength of gas detector mounting is checked;
- check of gas detector connection reliability. Absence of breakage or damage of
connection cable insulation, absence of breakage or damage of grounding wire is checked;
- check of gas detector settings for correspondence with ones in configuration
parameters table of gas detector configuration data sheet;
- check of operational capability of indicating devices in accordance with 8.5.3.2;
- check of operational capability of relay 1 and relay 2 (for gas detector models with
relays) in accordance with 8.5.3.3;
- check of gas detector zero setting in accordance with 8.5.3.4;
- check of gas detector sensitivity calibration in accordance with 8.5.3.5;
- cleaning of screen filter in necessary (see 8.5.3.7);
8.5.3.2 Check of operational capability of indicating devices
To check operational capability of indicating devices, "administrator" access level is
required.
Check of operational capability of indicating devices is performed as follows:
- enter settings menu;
- select
CAL
menu item;
- run command
C231
(enter administrator mode);
- run command
C06
(enable indicators check mode);
- control interrupted simultaneous synchronous glowing of all gas detector indicators
(duration of glowing and pause are approximately equal to 1s);
- control sequential glow of all segments of digital three-digit indicator (only for gas
detector models with built-in digital indicator);
- run command
C07
(disable indicators check mode);
- run command
C230
(exit administrator mode).
8.5.3.3 Check of operational capability of relay 1 and relay 2 (for gas detector models
with relays).
