Daily Care and Inspection
Inspect and clean the instrument periodically to prevent malfunction and breakdown. Unless otherwise
specified in this document, be sure to carry out all inspection and cleaning tasks with the blade guard put on
and handwheel lock tab locked.
Cleaning the Chamber
If debris is collected in the chamber, operations may be affected and tissue samples may also be
contaminated/infected. Clean the chamber using vacuum, etc., immediately after use.
Cleaning the Chamber
Use disinfectant alcohol to wipe the interior walls of the chamber. Besides disinfectant alcohol, 2%
glutaraldehyde, ampholytic surface active agent and biguanide solutions can be used.
Thoroughly dry the alcohol, if used. If the chamber is still wet with alcohol, the instrument may detect an
error or malfunction.
Do not spray alcohol directly on the evaporator that cools the chamber. Doing so will cause the
evaporator to corrode, leading to instrument malfunction.
Wear a mask, gloves, goggles and other protective gears when handling a disinfectant such as
glutaraldehyde. Prior to using a disinfectant, be sure to bring the chamber to room temperature. Wipe
out disinfectant residue using a cloth damp with water and dry the chamber interior thoroughly. If a
disinfectant such as glutaraldehyde remains, it may cause health hazard or instrument malfunction
.
Cleaning the Chamber Drain Pipe
If the chamber drain is clogged, defrost cycle and other operations may be affected and infection may also
occur. Clean the drain periodically.
1. Pull out the drain filter from the chamber drain pipe [1].
2. Use a drain cleaning brush to clean the drain pipe [2].
3. Also remove debris, etc., trapped on the drain filter.
4. Insert the drain filter into the drain.
Cleaning the Specimen Head
Debris attached to the specimen head may lead to an improperly
installed holder or specimen artifact. Clean it periodically.
Cleaning the Holder Installation Position
Use a brush, tweezers, etc., to remove the scarps trapped on the
holder mounting surface or in the grooves.
Cleaning the Operation Panel and Instrument Exterior
Use disinfectant alcohol to wipe the instrument panel and exterior. Reagents that are corrosive to plastics
cannot be used.
Besides disinfectant alcohol, neutral detergent, isopropyl alcohol, xylene, acetone and Tissue-Clear
solutions can be used on the instrument exterior.
