Running the Data Cable to the First Socket
3. You must now connect the data cable to the USB controller. However, the socket on the
USB controller is reversed from socket J1 on Board 4216A-036 so the cable needs to
be flipped before plugging into the USB controller.
• Holding the cable vertically, fold it with a twist so that you change its direction by
90 degrees (see diagram below). Run the cable approximately 1 ½ inches (3 cm)
and then fold it back along itself.
• Immediately make another twisted fold to change the cable’s direction by 90
degrees. The cable should now run across the socket in the USB controller. Notice
how the red line on the data cable has switched sides, enabling the cable to plug into
the USB controller.
• Plug the next data cable header into the socket on the USB controller and secure the
latches.
