Testing the DVE Send Option
Testing the DVE Send Option requires several important steps — many of which are covered in more
detail in the
Synergy 1 Installation Guide . This section includes an overview for testing the DVE
Send Option.
Use the following procedure to test the DVE Send Option:
1. Ensure that the DVE Send hardware and software options are properly installed, as
outlined in the section “ Installing the DVE Send Option ” on page 7–2.
2. Ensure that your DVE is properly installed and cabled to the Synergy 1 switcher. Refer
to the section, “ Primary DVE Connections ” of the Synergy 1 Installation Guide , for
instructions.
3. Ensure that reference is properly connected. Refer to the section, “ Reference
Connection ” of the Synergy 1 Installation Guide , for instructions.
4. Ensure that video and alpha inputs are properly connected from the Aux outputs of the
Synergy 1 switcher, to your DVE. Refer to the section, “ Primary DVE Input
Connection ” in the Synergy 1 Installation Guide , for instructions.
5. Ensure that video and alpha inputs are connected back to the Synergy 1 switcher. Refer
to the section, “ DVE Output Connections ” of the Synergy 1 Installation Guide , for
instructions.
6. Ensure that the Aux Buses for the Synergy 1 switcher are properly programmed. Refer
to the section, “ Aux Bus Panel Programming ” of the Synergy 1 Installation Guide , for
instructions.
7. Ensure that the Aux Bus tallies are properly programmed on the Synergy 1 switcher.
Refer to the section, “ Assigning Aux Bus Tallies ” of the Synergy 1 Installation Guide ,
for instructions.
8. Ensure that remote control and communications between the Synergy 1 switcher and the
DVE are properly installed and configured.
• Refer to the section, “ Remote Control Connections ” of the Synergy 1 Installation
Guide , for instructions.
• Refer to the section, “ DVE Communications Setup ” section of the Synergy 1
Installation Guide , for details on establishing RS-422 communications with the
primary DVE.
9. Ensure that the DVE Send button lights and latches on the Synergy 1 control panel.
10. On the Aux buses that feed the DVE, select signals and check that the DVE is receiving
the signals at its input.
11. On the DVE, manually manipulate the image (such as re-sizing it), and leave the image
in one static location.
Note
The DVE must be configured as a primary DVE in order to function
properly with the DVE Send Option.
