Synergy 1 and Synergy 100 Maintenance Guide (v16)
Panel CPU Replacement for the Synergy 1 Control Panel
If you wish to take advantage of the keyboard functionality available with version 16 and higher of the
Synergy 1 SD software, or install the USB Controller for the
USB Removable Media Drive Option
,
you will need to upgrade your
Panel CPU Board
to Issue 5.
Replacing the Synergy 1 Panel CPU Board
Use the following procedure to replace your Synergy 1
Panel CPU Board
:
1. Ensure your switcher configuration is saved to a storage device.
2. Power down the Synergy 1 control panel.
3. Disconnect all cables attached to the connectors on the rear of the panel, beginning with
the AC power connection(s). It is advisable to label each one with the port identification
to facilitate reconnection.
4. In order to gain access to the
Panel CPU Board
(4216-033), you must be able to lift the
cover of the control panel off the base:
•
Gently flip the control panel onto its side on a clean, flat, static free surface.
•
Locate the eleven screws on the underside of the tub.
•
Loosen and remove the eleven screws, and set them aside in a safe place.
•
Gently place the panel back down on its base.
5. On the rear of the control panel, on either side of the five
REMOTE
ports and the
TALLY
connector, you will find twelve 5mm Hex jack screws. Remove these screws
and set aside in a safe place.
6. For this next step, ensure you have telephone books, or a similar thick, sturdy object
available with which to support the control panel cover:
•
Raise the cover and slide the telephone books under the rear area of the side panels
to keep it raised and secure while you work.
•
Ensure you have enough workspace to access the
Panel CPU Board
.
•
Position a work light in the control panel tub, if necessary.
7. Remove the old
Panel CPU Board
as follows:
•
Disconnect all data and power connectors from the
Panel CPU Board
. Prior to
detachment, it is advisable to label the power cables on the front left corner of the
board to ensure that they are later re-attached to the correct connector. However, the
balance of the cables are of different widths and should not need to be labeled.
•
Locate and remove the six screws that secure the
Panel CPU Board
to the bottom
of the tub, and set them aside for later reassembly. These screws are identified as
MP1
,
MP2
,
MP3
,
MP5
,
MP6
, and
MP7
.
•
Carefully remove the old
Panel CPU Board
. Note that the top left corner contains
the
Frame Tally Board
(4216A-004). This daughter board is attached to the
Panel
CPU Board
by two header/socket connectors and one screw and standoff, marked
MP10
.
Caution
Observe all static discharge precautions throughout these procedures.
All product servicing should be carried out by qualified service
personnel.
