Location of Sleeve and Bulb
3. Remove the burned-out bulb as follows:
• Carefully push down the sleeve with your fingers.
• While holding down the sleeve, use needle-nose pliers to carefully grab the plastic
body of the bulb and pull it out. Note that the bulb has a two-wire connection in
which polarity is not important.
4. Replace the burned-out bulb as follows:
• Select a new bulb from your spare-parts kit.
• Align the two pins of the replacement bulb with the two holes in the button — the
orientation of the bulb does not matter.
• Replace the keycap.

5. Power on the Synergy 1 control panel.
6. Verify that the bulb is working. Refer to the section “ Testing the Lamps ” on page 11-2
for instructions.
This completes the procedure to replace a bulb.
Operating
Tip
If you have trouble removing a control panel button, use a pair of
wide-tipped pliers (1/2 inch) with masking tape wrapped around the
ends. For best results, wiggle the button back and forth as you extract
it. This helps to remove the button easily and also avoids scratching the
surface paint.
Important
Ensure to align the notch in the base of the keycap vertically to the
panel, as shown below. If it is not aligned in this manner, it will not
properly snap in place.
