Network connections
The connections between the Steelhead LAN interfaces and the Sensor-VE
monitor interfaces are virtual connections. They were made previously, as part of
the software installation. If you are using the Sensor-VE to monitor the Steelhead
LAN interfaces, skip ahead to the next section.
However, if you use the Sensor-VE to monitor traffic from a network tap or
mirror port (such as a SPAN port on a switch or router), then a physical
connection is required.
Connect a cable from the network tap or the mirror port of the network device to
the
Aux connector on the Steelhead chassis.
To monitor traffic via the Steelhead Aux port, the Sensor-VE must have this
source enabled. If you did not already enable it on the Setup page, then you can
enable it in the
Monitor Interface Configuration section of the Sensor-VE
Configuration  General Settings page.
Verify Sensor-VE operation
Verify that the Sensor-VE has been successfully installed and configured by
logging in and checking the Overview page.
The Overview page should show the Sensor-VE System Status as OK .
If the Profiler that is to receive traffic information from the Sensor-VE is online,
then the Profiler Status should be shown as
OK also. Additionally, the Profiler or
Express System  Devices/Interfaces page should list the Sensor-VE as a data
source.
