The pinion is not keyed, be sure to firmly secure the new pinion gear or it will slip on the gearbox
shaft.
3.19.4 Y-Axis Motor Replacement

Compare the cable connectors located on the new motor, the alignment should match
the old motor. If they do not have the correct alignment, change the connection by
removing the four connector mounting screws and carefully spinning the connection
180°.

Re-install the motor by reversing the removal procedure. Insure that the coupling is
tightened to the manufactures specifications (16 Nm). Do not install the access plug or
covers at this time.

Contact Rittal RAS Technical Support to remotely connect to the Perforex machine using
remote desktop software. Technical support will test the motor and preform the initial
Master Reference of the motor encoder.

Once the Master Reference has been accomplished the axis will need to be calibrated and
the Base offset established. Do not attempt to pick up a tool until the calibration has
been performed, the spindle will collide with the tool magazine. Refer to Calibrating the
Base Offset procedure.

REFERENCE CHANGES
The Master Reference establishes the initial encoder calibration values, which are then
stored in the machine parameters. Each axis requires a Master Reference (with exception of
the X-axis on the BC 2014 HS) should the motor be removed. The X and Y axis uses a
mechanical reference switch and the Z axis uses a proximity switch. Preforming the following
procedure is needed each time a motor, pinion or reference switch is moved or replaced.
