Figure 4 - High Drop Firing Head Protection
3.
Put the cylinder into the protective bag (the length of the bag shall be greater
than the length of the cylinder with its operating head). Leaving holes for the
operating head outlets, secure the protective covering to the cylinder with
self-adhesive 1” wide tape. Check the seat of the inlet valve and tighten if
needed. Position the cylinder in place properly and make sure that the outlet
of the cylinder operating head is exactly aimed at the non-return inlet valve.
For davit launch rafts, attach the operating head outlets directly to the non-
return inlet valve (See Chapter 1, Table 5 for torque values).
4.
Throw-over rafts require the connection of a high-pressure hose between the
operating head and the non-return valve.
5.
Place a fabric gasket around the 3 hole bolt which connects to the inlet valve,
and a smaller fabric gasket on the end each hose which connects to the
operating head. Torque to 15 lbf.ft.
6.
Cover the hose head and inlet check valve with a hose cover.
7.
Secure the cylinder in the pouch tightly by using polyamide ropes.
CAUTION: NEVER PULL THE FIRING WIRE IN TRANSPORTATION AND
INSTALLATION OF A CYLINDER.
