Unpacking
WEAR EYE, FACE, AND HAND PROTECTION
1. Safety Procedures
A. Make sure the work area is clean and the lighting is sufficient.
B. Use the following procedure if cutting container straps.
WARNING:
PUT ON FACE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT SUCH AS GOGGLES
OR A FACE SHIELD AND GLOVES WHEN CUTTING THE STRAPS/
CORDS AROUND THE CONTAINER. RELEASING CORDS/STRAPS
CAN CAUSE INJURY TO FACE AND HANDS WHEN CUTTING.
1. Make sure personnel are at a safe distance from the container when cutting
the cords or straps.
2. Stand to one side of each cord or strap when cutting it.
3. Hold the cord or strap against the container before cutting it.
4. Cut each cord between the seal and the position where the cord is held.
2. Date of Manufacture/GI Test
A. Check the date of manufacture and refer to Chapter 1, Table 5 for the servicing
period of the gas inflation system. If a test is not necessary, continue unpacking the
liferaft. If the test is necessary, refer to Chapter 5, Section 3.B for the test procedure.
