Assembly and Packing
1. General
A.
The work area must be clean, dry and free from sharp projections, with a smooth
working surface, preferably of vinyl material.
B.
Special Tools, Equipment and Materials:
Refer to Chapter 9 for the list of relevant items that are required during the
assembly and repacking of a liferaft.
C.
Throughout preparation and packing of the liferaft and its associated equipment, all
knots are to be bowlines with flying ends taped, using 1” wide PVC self adhesive
tape, unless stated otherwise.
D.
Ensure that during unpacking, preparation and repacking of the liferaft no moisture
is introduced to the liferaft.
E.
The liferaft must be completely dry before packing.
F.
Prepare all the tools needed to pack the raft: Straps, tape, scissors, etc.
2. Preparation of the Liferafts
A.
Place the equipment packs and paddles into position in the liferaft and secure them
firmly with the available cords.
