B.
Inspection of operating head
WARNING:
A GAS CYLINDER CAN BE A LETHAL PROJECTILE IF IT DIS-
CHARGES TO ATMOSPHERE. ALWAYS ATTACH A RECOIL CAP
TO THE GAS OUTLET WHEN HANDLING A FULLY CHARGED CYL-
INDER. HOLD THE CYLINDER IN A VICE OR SAFETY CLAMPING
DEVICE WHEN ATTACHING OR REMOVING AN FIRING HEAD.
WARNING:
FIRING HEADS MUST NOT BE CHECKED UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN
REMOVED FROM THEIR CYLINDERS.
1.
Firing heads must be tested. It is essential that they are removed from the
cylinders before testing. Refer to Chapter 2, Section 3, Unpacking the Liferaft
for further instructions on removing the firing head from the cylinder.
WARNING:
During assembly or disassembly of the cylinder firing head, the opera-
tor shall stand at the side of the cylinder. Never face the outlet of the
cylinder to avoid injury due to unexpected releasing of gas from the
cylinder!
2.
During assembly or disassembly of the operating head, fix it firmly on a table
vice and use a wrench to remove the firing head from the cylinder valve.
Place a recoil cap on cylinder valve.
