REPAIR AND SERVICE
MANUAL No.
9112
E.
Join the surfaces, taking care not to trap any air, using as much pressure as
possible. Press it with a scraper to make it flat and squeeze any air bubbles out.
Roll well, with a hand roller, to secure a firm bond. No turn up of patch edge is
allowed. For glue residue near the edge, Toluene can be used to de-activate.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE SOLVENTS TO REMOVE SURPLUS ADHESIVE
FROM REPAIR AREAS, UNLESS THE JOINT HAS CURED
THOROUGHLY.
F.
The repaired liferaft shall be cured for 48h before inflating it to its working pressure.
Then check if there is any leakage on the liferaft. If any, re-repair it. The additional
pressure test (NAP) can also be carried out after the repaired liferaft has been cured
at ambient temperature for 48h.
G.
Full cure occurs in 168 hours at 75-85°F (24-29)°C
H.
For a liferaft floor covered by thermal protective foam with aluminum film coating.
The repair of fabric is same as above. If the foam with aluminum film coating is
damaged, replace it with a new one supplied by Revere.
NOTE:
a DRY JOINT will result if:
-The adhesive becomes too dry between coats or at seam make-up.
-Any air bubbles are not completely rolled out.
-The mating surfaces are dry before patches are positioned.
A dry joint may appear good but will be easily pulled apart.
6. Repair Damaged Areas
Note that a correct adhesive-jointed seam is very strong. It is possible to cause
damage to the material if careless attempts are made to tear apart two surfaces joined
by adhesive, particularly if forces are applied in a manner not normally found during
service.
NOTE:
To release adhesive jointed seams or assemblies, it is recommended
that the following technique be used, together with the careful use of a
spatula or other suitable tool.
• Toluene solvent.
