MANUAL No.
9112
3.
The fabric used for air-holding chambers has a high resistance to abrasion.
Roughen the cleaned place and the rubber fabric repair patch with emery
cloth. The size of the repair patch should be larger than the dilapidated area
by 1.25” (3cm) at least.
4.
Apply the cleaning solvent again and allow to dry for at least 15 minutes.
4. Preparation of Adhesive
1.
The FA 1030 adhesive should be thoroughly mixed before adding accelerator.
2.
Add 7.75 parts accelerator/100 parts adhesive by weight. Stir until the
adhesive and accelerator are thoroughly mixed.
NOTE:
Use the catalyzed adhesive within eight hours of mixing.
5. Application of Adhesive
NOTE:
The repairing work shall be carried out indoor at ambient temperature
of 59° - 86°F (15° - 30°C) with relative humidity less than 75%.
A.
Apply an even coat of the mixed adhesive to the roughened place and to the repair
patch with a stiff, bristle brush. The adhesive must completely cover the entire areas
to be bonded and cover any surface irregularities. Allow to dry for 20 minutes before
applying the subsequent coat.
B.
Apply a second coat of adhesive to each mating surface. Allow to sit for 20 minutes.
C.
Apply a third coat of adhesive to each mating surface. Allow to sit for 20 minutes.
Once the thrid coat is dry, reactivate using a damp cloth dampened with Toluene by
wiping the surfaces to be bonded.
D.
Join the seam when the adhesive is tacky to the touch but does not transfer when
tested with a knuckle.
