6A. The recommended knot is a well-tightened fi gure-8 knot with a minimum
of 10 cm of excess tail. Do not forget to tie a fi gure eight knot in the bottom
end of the rope (see drawing).
6B. WARNING DANGER, two ropes rubbing together or a rope rubbing on a
sling generates heat that can result in breakage of the rope or sling.
WARNING DANGER, avoid all contact with sharp edges or abrasive surfaces.
Protect your rope (PROTEC, ROLL MODULE, SET CATERPILLAR).
To reduce the impact force in a fall, keep the rope taut between yourself and
the anchor.
6C. Sewn terminations
Never use a rope that has sewn terminations without the protective covers in
place. The safety stitching could wear quickly.
Never install two connectors into a sewn termination. The pull in two
opposite directions can damage the safety stitching.
