6.2.2.2.6 Setting an advance warning time for a rotating beacon
For all closing operations
– no matter by which control device they were triggered – you can
set an advance warning time of 3 seconds using DIP switch
S501
(see Figure 6.9). All
closing commands will then activate a relay that switches on the rotating beacon or other
warning device, and 3 seconds later, the boom barrier will close.

6.2.3 Checking proper function
After you have checked or modified any settings on the control unit, you should test all of the
functions possible:
1. Do the loop detectors activate properly?
2. Does the boom barrier close after passage of a vehicle?
3. Does the barrier close automatically after having been opened provided automatic
closing is activated?
4. Does the advance warning time set if any cause the barrier to close after a time delay
has lapsed?
5. Does the activation of the safety function (safety pressure strip or photoelectric
barrier) cause the boom barrier to immediately stop any closing operation and, if
applicable, does the barrier then automatically open again (auto reversing)?
Check the proper function of the safety pressure strip by pressing it slightly anywhere.
The closing of the barrier must stop immediately.
Warning
For safety reasons, instead of using your hand, an object (e.g. a piece of wood)
should be used to push against the safety strips.
6. Does the hold-to-run (dead-man) function work properly if set?
Note
Should any of the functions to be checked prove to malfunction and should the
cause for the malfunction not be readily apparent, please refer to Section 7.7
”Troubleshooting”. You will find some advice there.
