6.1 Hand-operated boom barriers
When putting the hand-operated barriers into operation, you only need to check the proper
function of the mechanical components:
1. Check for ease of operation of the barrier
boom. The weight of the boom is balanced by
means of one or two gas-filled dampers. Do
not modify these dampers in any way.
2.
The two final positions “OPEN” and
“CLOSED” are determined by means of
adjustable end stops. The end stops were
adjusted at the factory in such a way that the
barrier boom is perfectly horizontal in the
CLOSED position, provided the installation
was carried out properly. Therefore, you
should not adjust these end stops.
3. If a fixed support post is provided for the
barrier boom, you should check that the boom
rests properly in the resting fork of the post in
such a way that the support post bears the
weight of the boom and not the end stops
(Figure 6.1).
Should that not be the case, you have to
change the position of the barrier stand and/or
that of the fixed support post (see
“Installation”).
4. If the barrier boom is fitted with a pendulum support, it is important that you check that
the pendulum support takes the weight of the barrier boom when closed. You can adjust
the height of the pendulum support by turning the threaded rod at the foot of the support
in or out as needed; afterwards retighten the locknut.
