5.4 Installation of the Hand-operated Boom Barrier Type GHS
Note
The hand-operated boom barriers can optionally be fitted with a pendulum
support or a fixed support post. The installation of these components is
described in sections 5.6 and/or 5.7
For lifting and transporting the hand-operated boom barriers, please observe the instructions
of section "4. Transportation".
5.4.1 Fastening the boom barrier on the foundation
For aligning the stand vertically and horizontally (please use a water level), pieces of sheet
metal are inserted between the base plate and the concrete foundation.
Warning
Please note that this work poses the danger of fingers being crushed.
The sheet metal has to be inserted close to the bore holes for the fastening bolts so that the
base plate does not deform under tension.
If the hand-operated barrier is provided with a fixed support post, you will also have to check
that the barrier stand of the hand-operated boom barrier is properly aligned with the
foundation for the support post.
The base plate is fastened with the fastening anchors provided.
The fastening holes in the base plate have a diameter of 40 mm. Drill through them a 12-
mm
-hole into the concrete.
Warning
Wear protective goggles.
Blow air into the drilled hole in order to remove any dust from drilling. Using a hammer, insert
the anchors without destroying them mechanically. Then temporarily fasten the base plate
with the nuts and special washers provided.
5.4.2 Aligning the barrier
Push the barrier boom onto the barrier-boom mount and fasten it with the screws provided.
Close the barrier until the pre-adjusted stop position is reached. The vertical and horizontal
alignment of the barrier should now be checked once more and corrected if needed. If
applicable, you may also have to check the position with regard to any fixed support post.
