Appendix B - CMI/Old Dominion (version 8.01)
RFID Reader
The CMI/Old Dominion FSC was designed to interface theFSC3000
™
to the CMI Controller in order to read
an RFID tag embedded on the vehicle.
When a driver pulls a vehicle up to fuel, the CMI RFID reader will automatically identify the vehicle using an
RFID tag and communicate the tag data to the Fuel Site Controller (FSC) through the Petro-Net
™
protocol.
This design intent is to eliminate the possibility for errors that exist when the driver manually keys in the
vehicle number.
The CMI Controller interfaces with two (2) CMI readers and communicates over Petro-Net
™
to the
FSC3000
™
. The FSC can communicate with up to 16 CMI controllers (32 readers).
Each reader is logically “tied” to a single pump. When a driver pulls up to the reader, the RFID tag
information will automatically be sent to the FSC. When the driver selects the pump, if the tag has been read
from the corresponding RFID reader, the vehicle number (#) on the tag will automatically become part of the
transaction record with no need for prompting. If the tag has not been read, then the driver will be prompted to
key in the vehicle number.
When the FSC communicates to the TChek host to authorize the transaction, it also sends the vehicle # and
an identifier field which indicates whether the vehicle # came from an RFID tag or was keyed in by the driver.
When executing a “show trans” on the FSC, the FSC will indicate whether the vehicle # field came from an
RFID tag or was keyed in by the driver.
CONFIGURATION
In order for the FSC to properly communicate with the CMI controller, the CMI controller must first be
configured with the appropriate assigned address (see CMI's Configuration Instructions). The CMI control
module must be configured with the following communication settings to properly communicate onPetro-
Net
™
.
l
9600 baud
l
7 data bits
l
Even parity
l
One stop bit
