The User Program
Section 2-3
Example 5:
Write-protecting Addresses 0600 through 07FF
How to Cancel Write
Protection
To cancel write protection, set the leftmost bit of address 0002 to 0. When
write protection is canceled, the data in address 0002 to 0005 will be null and
void.
2-3-5
The Data Carrier’s Production Date
The Data Carrier’s production date is registered in the first 2 bytes (addresses
0000 and 0001) of the Data Carrier’s internal memory before shipment from
the factory. No data can be written to these two bytes; an attempt to do so will
result in a write protect error.
The life of the Data Carrier is approximately 8 years. Develop a program that
monitors the Data Carrier’s production date and reminds the user to replace it
before it becomes unusable.
With the user program in the CPU or a Host Computer, execute Read in order
to read the date of production and monitor the life of the Data Carrier.
