Selecting the Original Type
Selecting the correct original type setting is important because the copier makes
adjustments and calibrations according to the type of original specified. A correct
selection is necessary for the optimal reproduction of the colors of the original.
You can select from the following seven settings:

There cannot be more than one original type setting at the same time. Once you specify
an original type, the previous setting is deleted.

Text/Image
For originals that contain both text and printed images.
■
Text/Photo
For originals that contain both text and photo images.
■
Text
For originals that contain text only.
■
Map
For originals that contain detailed drawings and small text, such as that found on maps.
■
Printed Image
For originals that contain mainly printed images or photos, such as magazines and
newspapers.

Copying photos or images with halftones may produce the moire effect. Use the
Sharpness function to reduce the moire effect. (See “Changing the Sharpness in Copies
(Sharpness),” on p. 3-7.)

For photo originals.

For originals that are themselves color copies.
