Designating Areas on Black-and-white Originals with a Marker Pen
4-52
■
Designated Area
When there is a second border within the first border where the point was entered, the
area that is defined as the designated area excludes the area inside the inner border.
IMPORTANT
.
•
Only the Base Color function can be specified.
•
If there is a smudged or blurred line inside the area, the portion containing the smudge
may sometimes be incorrectly detected as a designated area.
•
If the border extends beyond the edges of the paper in enlarged copying, the area cannot
be designated.
Encircled Designation
The region enclosed within an encircled area marked by a marker pen is defined as
the designated area.
Any number of encircled areas can be designated on one original. The encircled
area should have a diameter of at least 5 mm, and the border should be at least 1
mm thick.
There are two types of target areas for Encircled Designation; Entire Enclosed and
Enclosed Area. The default setting is Entire Enclosed.
IMPORTANT
.
•
When encircling an area with a marker, make sure that there are no gaps in the border. If
there is any gaps, the encircled region cannot be detected as a designated area.
•
If the marking overlaps any part of the image, the encircled region will not be detected as
a designated area. In addition, do not designate encircled areas such that they overlap.
Such areas may not be detected properly.
