Differences between TP and DP colour management
Differences between TP and DP colour management
Regarding PDF printing, the TP colour management differs from DP colour management. The
differences of TP compared to DP colour management are:
• TP does not support spot colours. Spot colours are interpreted as deviceCMYK and are
therefore colour managed.
• TP does not support overruling of:
• The embedded deviceRGB input profile.
• The embedded deviceCMYK input profile.
• The rendering intent.
• The rendering intent associated with a PDF object with device colours is not overruled with the
default rendering intent defined in the Settings Editor. In DP mode the rendering intent
associated with a PDF object with device colours is always overruled with the rendering intent
specified for device colours.
A PDF object with device colours is an object without an input profile.
• TP offers only one rendering intent for both deviceRGB and deviceCMYK data. This rendering
intent is used as the PDF default rendering intent.
• TP offers different default input profiles for monochrome printing for both deviceRGB and
deviceCMYK data.
• TP mode does not support colour pre-sets.
• TP mode only supports 600 dpi printing.
• TP mode does not support "Tag bit".
TP colour management offers (additional to DP) functionality to:
• Ignore embedded output profiles from the IPDS data stream.
• Ignore toner transfer curves from the IPDS data stream.
• Do Black preservation.
• Define colour numbering for highlight colours (process colours CMY only).
• Define colour names for indexed colours (colour mix of CMYK).
• Select PDF to all black.
