Define composite output profiles
Custom output profiles can be installed on the controller using the Settings Editor. By default, the
controller contains a standard set of output profiles.
After uploading a new output profile, the PRISMAsync controller checks if the output profile is a
correct ICC printer profile. The controller also checks if the "composite output profiles" are correct
ICC profiles. The Device Links are checked to be CMYK-to-CMYK Device Links.
If the output profile is not a valid ICC printer profile: an error message is shown and the import of
the output profile fails. An error message is also shown when a CMYK-to-CMYK Device Link is
uploaded without a valid license for advanced colour management.
Depending on the type of defined "composite output profile" the following properties are
available:
• Simulation profile
• Paper simulation
Simulation profile
The Simulation profile can be selected from all CMYK input profiles which are installed on the
system. The installed CMYK input profiles can be found in Settings Editor. Select value 'None' to
disable device simulation. When no colour conversion ('None') is selected, the normal colour
management is performed.
NOTE
RGB profiles cannot be chosen as Simulation profile. Simulation/proofing of RGB devices, like
monitors, on a four-colour print engine is not regarded a meaningful use case.
Paper simulation
Enable option 'Paper simulation' to simulate the colour of the media. For example, newspaper
paper can be slightly more yellow than the paper on which is printed. If Paper simulation is
enabled, the Absolute colorimetric rendering intent will be chosen for Device Simulation. If Paper
simulation is disabled, the Relative colorimetric rendering intent will be used.
Normal Output profile
If a normal output profile is used without device simulation: "
Simulation Profile = None
" and
Paper simulation
is disabled.
Device simulation with Simulation profile (and a Normal Output profile)
If a normal output profile is used with device simulation:
Simulation profile
can be chosen from a
list with the available input profiles. After selecting a Simulation profile, the option 'Paper
Simulation' is available.
Device Simulation with a Device Link profile
If a Device Link profile is used, it is mandatory to select a
Simulation profile
. For the used Device
Link, you must select the corresponding input profile for option
Simulation profile
. With a Device
Link profile the option
Paper Simulation
is not available.
NOTE
If you use an output profile or Device Link, the maximum toner coverage of the device can be
exceeded. If you use the factory default output profiles, the maximum toner coverage of the
device is never exceeded. If the maximum toner coverage is exceeded, the PRISMAsync
controller reduces the maximum toner coverage to the engine specific maximum limit.
