The network interface group of MIB-II
Introduction
The MIB-II is specified in RFC 1213.
The network interface group from MIB II is partly supported. The supported OID nodes are:
• ifNumber
• ifIndex
• ifDescr: board name
• ifType: type of physical interface (Ethernet, etc..)
• ifSpeed: transmit speed
• ifPhysAddress: MAC address
ifNumber
Access : read only item.
A value which indicates the number of network interfaces that are currently enabled and active on
the controller.
ifIndex
Access : read only item.
A numerical value which indicates the interface index for every interface, which is enabled and
active on the controller.
ifIndex is part of object: ifTable.ifEntry
NOTE
The Microsoft MIB-II sub-agent returns an interface index in the range of 0x10001 to 0x100FF.
NOTE
There is no guarantee that a network interface always gets the same interface index.
ifDescr
Access : read only item.
A string value that provides a human readable description of the network interface.
ifDescr is part of object: ifTable.ifEntry
ifType
Access : read only item.
The type of interface.
PRISMAsync supports the following interface types:
• Ethernet-csmacd (6)
• softwareLoopback (24)
ifType is part of object: ifTable.ifEntry
ifSpeed
Access
: read only item.
An estimate of the current bandwidth of the interface in bits per second.
