WINDOWS NT 3.51 AND DRIVER INSTALLATION
Windows NT comes pre-installed (hot-loaded) on the system.
If necessary, follow these steps to reinstall Windows NT on the computer. Windows NT
Setup automatically guides you through each of these steps. Help for these steps are
provided in the
Windows NT Workstation Installation Guide
.
NEC recommends that the applications shipped with the system be installed in the following
order. Any selections that are different from the defaults have been identified.
NOTE:

typical system installation. For other
configurations, see your

1.
Insert the “Setup Boot Diskette” from the Windows NT kit into drive A.
2.
Power on the monitor and system unit. The system performs a self test and starts
to install Windows NT from the diskette in drive A.
3.
When prompted insert “Setup Disk 2” and press
Enter
.
The Welcome to Setup screen appears with the following message:
The setup program for the
Microsoft(R) Windows NT(TM)
operating system version 3.51
prepares Windows NT to run on your
computer.

To learn more about Windows NT
Setup before continuing, Press
F1
.

To set up Windows NT now, Press
Enter
.

To repair a damaged Windows NT
version 3.51 installation, press
R
.
n
To quit setup without installing
Windows NT, press
F3
.
4.
Press
Enter
to start Windows NT Setup.
The screen prompts you to select either “Express Setup” or “Custom Setup.”
NEC recommends that you select “Express Setup.”
5.
Press
Enter
to select “Express Setup.”
