3-4 Disassembly and Reassembly
System Cover Removal
Remove the system cover as follows.
Before removing the cover, turn off system power and unplug the
system AC power cable.
Before opening the system and before handling system components,
reduce static discharge by touching the metal chassis.
1.
Turn off the system and all peripherals.
2.
Unplug the system AC power cord and all peripheral power cords.
3.
Disconnect all peripherals from the front and rear of the system.
If the mouse and keyboard cables are installed in the anti-theft bracket, remove the screw
fastening the bracket to the chassis. The screw is accessible from inside the chassis, after the
cover is removed.
4.
If the system is configured as a slimtower, remove the stabilizers (see “Slimtower Stabilizer
Removal,” earlier in this section).
5.
If a padlock is installed in the anti-theft ring on the rear of the system, remove it.
6.
Remove the cover screw and anti-theft ring securing the cover to the rear of the chassis.

Note
The cover is a one piece unit that fits tightly to the chassis. The cover unit includes the
top panel, left and right panels, and front panel. Do not attempt to separate the side panels or
front panel from the cover unit.
