Disassembly and Reassembly 3-11
Install an expansion board as follows.
1.
Remove the system cover and riser board bracket, if not already removed.
2.
Locate an empty expansion slot on the riser board bracket.
3.
Remove and save the screw securing the slot cover to the bracket (see the preceding figure
“Removing the Riser Board Bracket”).
4.
Remove and save the slot cover.
5.
Follow any preinstallation instructions that come with the expansion board (such as setting
jumpers or switches on the board).
6.
Hold the expansion board by its edges or its bracket and insert the board into the expansion
slot on the riser board.
7.
Firmly press the expansion board into its connector on the riser board.
8.
Secure the expansion board in place on the riser board bracket with the previously removed
slot cover screw.
9.
Attach any cables required by the expansion board.
10.
Align the riser board bracket with the chassis and the riser board with its connector on the
system board.
11.
Push the riser board bracket down until the riser board and bracket seat.
12.
Ensure that the tab (
F
on the preceding figure) on the riser board bracket is inside the
chassis.
13.
Secure the riser board in place with the previously removed upper side screw.
14.
Replace the cover (see “System Cover Removal” earlier in this section).
