Programming a Pump with a Protocol Library
Note: The ability to program, resume, or repeat a Library Protocol is restricted to the LIBRARY
menu option.
Press to scroll down to the “
LIBRARY” function.
Highlight “LIBRARY,” and then press “ YES” , the following screen appears:
Resume/Repeat Rx/New Program Menu
Note: The “RESUME” and “REPEAT Rx” options may not appear if a therapy has not been
previously programmed or has run to completion.
There are three different ways that you can start a therapy:
• RESUME: Should be used if a therapy is interrupted. The pump picks up where it left
off, and continues the current therapy.
• REPEAT Rx: Should be used to hang a new bag and repeat the same therapy over again.
The infusion history displayed is reset (volume infused, boluses requested, boluses
received, etc). Shift Totals and Hourly Totals continue to accrue.
• NEW PROGRAM: Should be used to program a totally new Library Rx.
Programming a New Library Therapy
NEW PROGRAM—If the cursor is moved to this field and the YES/ENTER key is pressed, the
display changes to allow you to select which Library Therapy you wish to program:
1. If the desired Category/Care Area is not already listed on the first screen, select “
YES”
to
answer “Page Down.” This will bring up additional screen(s) with additional choices.
2. If Category/Care Area is already listed on first screen press to scroll down to choice you wish
to select.
3. When the Category/Care Area that you wish to choose is highlighted, press “YES” to select
that option.
4. If the Library Therapy is not already listed on the first screen select “ YES” to the right of “Page
Down.” This will bring up additional screen(s) with additional choices.
5. If the Library Therapy is already listed on first screen press to scroll down to choice you
wish to select.
6. When the Library Therapy that you wish to choose is highlighted, press “
YES”
to select that
option.
7. Press “ YES” again to “ACCEPT” this Library Therapy selection.
8. An optional “ADVISORY” <message> may appear. Press “YES” to continue or “NO” to return
to main Library Screen.
