Chapter 10.
Effect generator
Of all the programming features in the Xciter, the effect generator must be the supreme tool. You can put
up to 255 different effects in a single scene. These effect generators are not preprogrammed. If you want to
use preprogrammed effects, refer to ‘Effect macros’ on page 89.

How to apply effects to logical channels
1.
Select the fixtures you wish to use in the effect. Example: Martin MX-10 13ch.
2.
Open the dimmer and activate the channels you want to give an effect. Example: PAN and TILT.
3.
Go to the advanced editor menu and press {effects}.
Xciter presents a list of all the activated channels. If you do not activate any logical channel, you won’t see
one listed. You cannot apply an effect to a transparent channel because it is simply not listed.
4.
You can select/deselect logical channels with the softkeys next to their labels. A selected channel is
indicated with the symbol (<). If there are more than 3, use the arrow keys or the top right jog wheel to scroll
through the list.
5.
Press [EDIT] to assign a generator number to the selected channel(s).
Xciter prompts you to select a generator number. The significance of selecting a number will be explained
later.
6.
Use the top right jog wheel to adjust the value. Or press [CLEAR] until the value reads 0 and use the
general purpose number keys 1-10 to input a new value (10 being the 0).
Example: choose effect generator number 10.
7.
Press [ENT] to confirm the new value or [ESC] to abort and return to the previous value.
Xciter displays the new status of the channels on the main LCD; It shows that a sine shape is running on
effect generator 10, affecting the PAN and TILT channel.
