Greasing points are marked on the machine by decals showing a
grease gun and the grease interval in hours of operation.
Log hours of operation and use the maintenance schedule
provided to keep a record of scheduled maintenance. Refer to
4.3.1 Maintenance Schedule/Record, page 93
4.4.1
Greasing Procedure
Only use clean, high temperature, extreme pressure grease. Refer to this manual
’
s inside back cover for a list of
recommended fluids and lubricants.
WARNING
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop the engine and remove the key from
the ignition before leaving the operator
’
s seat for any reason.
1.
Open driveshields at the ends of the header to access greasing points. Refer to
3.6.1 Opening Driveshields, page 61
2.
Wipe grease fitting with a clean cloth before greasing to avoid injecting dirt and grit.
3.
Replace any loose or broken fittings immediately.
4.
Inject grease through fitting with grease gun until grease overflows fitting (except where noted).
5.
Leave excess grease on fitting to keep out dirt.
6.
Remove and thoroughly clean any fitting that will not take grease and clean lubricant passageway. Replace fitting if
necessary.
