Depending on the configured option, the compensation applies only to the spon -
taneous breaths or also to the pressure-controlled mandatory breaths.

Remark
In the ventilation of neonates and infants, the compensation of
the tube-related work of breathing activated for the mandatory
breaths may increase the tidal volume.
Set the desired degree of compensation in percent and the internal diameter of
the tube in millimetres.
Warning
The tube diameter must always be set to the size of the tube used.
A tube diameter that is too small can lead to overcompensation
and oscillation during ventilation.
Remark
The internal diameter is printed on the outside of the tube or its
packaging.
Inspiratory or expiratory tube compensation can be activated once the degree of
compensation and tube diameter have been set.
When the tube compensation is activated, the device calculates the tracheal pres-
sure at the Y-piece before the tube and the pressure is displayed by an additional
curve. If the curve is not visible, it may have been deactivated in the configuration
menu.
Remark
If the compensation values are high, the activation of expiratory
compensation can lead to auto-triggering of the pressure support.
In this case, a higher trigger sensitivity should be selected.
Remark
Visible overshoots and undershoots are not transferred to the
patient via the tube.
