SoundAdvisor Model 831C
Setting Up the Event History Measurement
17-1
Module 1
Using Event History
T
his module shows how to perform a measurement using Event
History, a feature of option 831C-ELA. Option 831C-ELA provides event-
based logging analysis and event history data with manual or timed
storage of statistical data and measurement history.
As shown in
Figure 17-1
, an event occurs when the measured sound
pressure level exceeds at least one
Trigger Level
and persists (longer
than the
Minimum Duration
you define).

17.1 Setting Up the E ent History Measurement
This section shows how to add some or all of the following capabilities
to a measurement setup file: Trigger Levels, Event History, Event Time
History, and Alert Notifications.
Before you begin:
• Verify that firmware option 831C-ELA has been installed and
enabled on your meter. For more information, see
14.4
Enabling or Disabling Optional Firmware
.
Step 1
Navigate to
Tools
Setup Manager
.
As shown by the
Event Stop
, an
event ends when the sound level
drops 2 dB below the trigger level.
This 2 dB hysteresis is to avoid the
creation of multiple exceedances
when the sound level is fluctuating
at or near the trigger level.
