General Troubleshooting
Over the years we have learned that the following items may not be warranty related:
Brake Actuator
Check that the brake fl uid fi ller cover is secure. If this comes off and water enters the system, braking may be
severely compromised and a full brake fl uid fl ush is required as soon as possible.
SPECIFICALLY FOR Electronic Disc Brakes:
Ensure parking brake protective cover for the button is in place and sealed. Set your vehicle brake control
correctly so the brakes are not too aggressive. If they are too aggressive, the brakes will over heat and the
steel discs start to turn blue. This may give rise to excessive disc wear, overheated callipers and burnt bearing
grease. Check your wheel (lug) nuts after a period of excessive brake use as there will be signifi cant heat
transfer from the disc to the wheel and the wheel (lug) nut torque may have changed.
Shock Absorbers
DO NOT LET SHOCK ABSORBERS OVERHEAT
.
Keep shock absorber bodies clean (to dissipate heat more effi ciently – coated mud will seriously impact ability
to dissipate heat).
Tyre Wear
You should check for a minimum tread depth of 1.5 mm (0.06in) on any part of the tyre surface that comes
into contact with the road. Tyres have indicators in their tread pattern which show (as lines across the
tread) when worn down. Check your tyres for abnormal wear or damage (such as cracks, bulges or tears). If
there is uneven wear on the inside or outside of the tyre this is due to a tracking issue in the suspension. You
need to have the suspension tracking adjusted to approximately a 1-3mm (0.04-0.12in) “tow-in” position.
Utilise the Spare Tyre
For maximum tyre life effi ciency ensure that you rotate your tyres at regular intervals and include the spare
tyre/s in this maintenance.
Check Wheel (Lug) Nuts
Torque these depending on size and stud number - 130Nm / 96 ft-lb (14mm 5 Stud) & 120Nm / 89 ft-lb (12mm
6 stud). Check 50-100km (30-60mi.) after wheel change & from new while wheel beds in. We recommend
carrying a torque wrench for checking wheel (lug) nut torque and checking them regularly when travelling.
Wheel Protective Covers
Some Wheels are supplied with decorative wheel cap covers—these are not suitable for offroad conditions.
THE CAPS MAY COME OFF OR GET DAMAGED- CAP DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.
Water Taste:
The most common problem comes from bad water going into the water tank. The water system uses plastic
hoses which are ‘food grade’ but still susceptible to water with iron content. The polyethylene tanks are inert
containers and will not affect the taste of water. If you fi nd a taste problem with the water, we suggest you
install a 1 micron water fi lter which your dealer can supply if it has not been factory optioned already. Empty
your tanks when in storage.
IMPORTANT:
Do not clean water system with Vanilla or Vinegar as these will damage pipes. Please be aware
your fi ller hose can often be the cause for tainted water!
