DC link capacity
Triple axis module
12 A
405 μF
330 + 405 = 735
The available DC link capacity of the axis group in this example is 735 μF
and thus smaller than 1,000 μF. Therefore the effective power is reduced to
7.35 kW due to the actual available DC link capacity.
The sum of the available power output with a typical efficiency of the axis
modules of 98 % is calculated as shown below:
7.35 x 0.98 = 7.2
The sum of the available power output over all axis is 7.2 kW.
The available power output for an axis with 12 A with a maximal motor volt-
age of 326 V (depending on the modulation type) is calculated as shown be-
low:
326 x 12 x √3= 6.78 kW
The available power output for one axis is 6.78 kW.
Reduction of the effective power
Supply voltage 3 x 230 V AC
For supply modules, which can be supplied with 3 x 230V AC, the effective,
permanently available power of the DC link is reduced by a factor of 1.732.
The condition 100 µF per 1 kW effective power remains unchanged.
Supply voltage 230 V AC
For supply modules, which can be supplied also single-phased with 230 V
AC, the effective power of the DC link is 1 kW. The peak power is limited to 2
kW. For 1 kW effective power, additional DC link capacitiy of 900 µF is nec-
cessary.
