Heuristic methods of detecting new threats may be enabled / disabled for the
Mail Anti-Virus component using the
Heuristic Analyzer
tab. This requires that
the following steps be performed:
1. Open the application settings window and select
Mail Anti-Virus
under
Protection
.
2. Click the
Customize
button in the
Security Level
area (see Figure 25).
3. Select
Heuristic Analyzer
tab in the resulting dialog (see Figure 29).
To use heuristic methods, check
Use Heuristic Analyzer
. Additionally, scan
resolution may be set by moving the slider to one of the following settings:
Shal-
low
,
Medium
, or
Detail
.

Restoring default Mail Anti-Virus
settings
When configuring Mail Anti-Virus, you can always return to the default perfor-
mance settings, which Kaspersky Lab considers to be optimal and has combined
in the
Recommended
security level.
