The below general used terms are useful to know before reading the following chapters.

100Base-Tx 100 MBit Ethernet on twisted pairs

Internet Protocol - IP address ~ the logical address of the device which is

user configurable.

MAC

Media Access Controller - MAC address ~ the hardware address of the de-

vice.

MacTalk

A windows PC based program supplied from JVL. This is an overall program

to install, adjust and monitor the function of the motor and a module in

stalled in the motor.

TCP

Transfer Control Protocol (an IP based protocol used widely on the inter-

net)

UDP

User Datagram protocol (an IP based protocol used widely on the internet)

DHCP

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (Automatic configuration of IP ad-
