In general, the tail width of the bottom echo changes as follows according to
the hardness of the bottom (BH is a bottom hardness level changing
according to the type of bottom material):
Type of bottom material
Tail size
BH
Rock
Long

Gravel

Sand

Mud

Thus, changes in the hardness of the bottom can be identified from
changes in the tail width of the bottom echo.
In the bottom discrimination display mode, since echo of the bottom tail
is displayed directly below standard expanded bottom echo, changes in
tail width can better be identified than with a conventional fishfinder.
MIXED display mode
(see operations panel control
8
on
page 6)
Triple-display consisting of low-frequency/high-frequency dual display
and identification display modes is available in the MIXED display mode.
Identification display shows only signal levels that, although detectable in
high-frequency mode, cannot be detected in low-frequency mode.
Reflections that can be detected in both high-frequency and low-
frequency modes are displayed in white (this color can be changed using
the user color setting function).
Regardless of the settings of the dual-display mode (see page 29)
or the ZOOM display range (see page 30), mixed display shown at
right is always made.
〜
A-scope dual display
(see operations panel control
6
on
page 6)
The A-scope for representing the reflection level of the ultrasonic waves
from schools of fish by a color tone and width can be displayed in each
display mode, except for mixed display.
Graph display
(see pages 15and 34)
A graph showing changes in water temperature and water depth, can be
displayed. Even when a graph is not displayed, water temperature/water
depth data is automatically stored into an internal memory. Existing
water temperatures and water depths can therefore be confirmed just by
displaying the corresponding graph only when necessary.
