STARTING AND OPERATING
AFTER DRIVING OFF-ROAD — 2.2L DIESEL
(IF EQUIPPED)
Drain Plug Location
After driving off-road and water crossings, any
water accumulated under the timing belt cover
must be drained out on the 2.2L Diesel.
To avoid damaging moving parts, the operation
must be performed immediately after water
crossings.
Avoid driving long distances after water
crossings.
Proceed as follows:
1. Stop the vehicle in an area that is not
dangerous to oncoming traffic, on flat
ground that is sufficiently compact where
you can operate safely.
2. Place the transmission in the PARK (P)
position.
3. Stop the engine and apply the parking
brake.
4. Have passengers exit the vehicle and lock
the doors to prevent accidental maneuvers.
5. Place a wheel chock under diagonally
opposite wheels to prevent unexpected
movement of the vehicle.
